in the battle ground state of florida, but not before many counties saw a record, gigantic lines. and phil keating joins us from tampa, and the numbers. it was crazy yesterday, phil. >> absolutely, reportedly six hour waits at certain locations in miami-dade county outside of the precinct on friday, three and a half hours all day long to stand in line, shuffle forward and finally cost their ballot. the numbers are big despite the fact in 2008 there was early voting on this sunday before election day, this year, there is not. and that's been a point of convention, democrats and democrat leaning groups have called that voting suppression engineered by the republican dominated legislature and governor's office in the state of florida. however, despite those cries, the numbers have been as good as they were back in 2008. take a look at numbers right now. nearly 4 million, this is through friday, nearly 4 million floridians voted early, by early voting or absentee ballot. and the way it breaks down, the most early voters stand in line and cast their ballot, 45% of those people are registered de

,s their side won. planned parenthood also led the opposition to an anti-abortion ballot amendment in florida. that opposition succeeded in florida. florida voted that anti-abortion thing down by a 10-point margin. they won pretty much everything they touched. over 97%, over 98%? it was a very winning year for planned parenthood. but the story of why planned parenthood had such a successful election season is not just the story of an individual senator in ohio or virginia or ballot question somewhere. planned parenthood did so well this year because this election ended up turning on women's rights. because they moved on those issues whole sale nationwide as a party. some of this years's most famous republican candidates are guys who got famous for saying astonishing things. republicans did this to themselves and then democrats wouldn't let them get away with it. republicans tied themselves so tightly to women's rights issues that ideas for cut of funding for planned parenthood, rolling back access to contraception, all of those things became identified in voters' minds as what you get if you

is counting? florida has been counting vots longer than any other state again. four days after the hotly contested swing state battle, cnn is projecting president barack obama as the winner. with some provisional ballots still to be counted, it's close. and capitol hill is still divided with a few races too close to call. republicans will hold the edge in the house. democrats have a nine-seat lead in the senate. now to the recovery from the devastating superstorm sandy. hundreds of thousands of people in new york and new jersey are still struggling with power outages nearly two weeks after the storm. but today, some relief for new jersey. governor chris christie says he expects most of the state's power to be back tonight. >>> meanwhile, fema is saying more than $403 million in aid has been approved for storm victims. >> if you can imagine what it must be like to be without power for two weeks, you can easily understand the anger and frustration storm victims are feeling. people in one community in queens are demanding to know why there's been such a hold-up. here is deborah feyerick. >>

department is monitoring the remainder of early voting in miami-dade county, florida because of complaints about long lines in some polling places. the democrats in florida have asked the governor to extend early voter, but governor scott said he will not do that. at the same time the republican national committee sent a letter to election officials in six states trying to make sure voting machines are working properly. those states include nevada, kansas, north carolina, colorado, missouri and ohio. >> reporter: we are in cuyahoga county, downtown cleveland. they have a long history of problems including missing votes and missing voting machines. we were her voting on the acorn scandal. freddy johnson told me he was registered to vote by acorn 73 times. turns out he was just the tip of the iceberg. two election officials were convicted of rigging the 2004 presidential recount. the 2006 voter cards and voting machine keys were lost. employees took vote magazines home to test them and taxi drivers transported the memory cards from the polls that held all the votes. >> there was a systemic b
